Education  

Starker Forests, Inc. works to provide a wide variety of educational opportunities people of all ages. Some of the things we do include:

  • Alsea Forest Camp - 180 sixth graders from smaller, rural schools plus high school counselors, teach emergency shelters lesson
  • Annual Tree Planting Day - 400 kids and 250 parents
  • Benton County Fair booth
  • Corvallis Outdoor School - 580 sixth graders and 75-100 high school counselors, organize the forestry lesson, lead “Wilderness Survival”
  • DaVinci Days booth - wood cookies
  • Experimental Forest - Mt. View Middle School
  • Forest Tours - The Starker Memorial Trail
  • Leadership Corvallis - lead Natural Resources Day
  • OR-TOSA- Oregon Teachers on Summer Assignment. Hire a teacher to come learn about the forest for a summer
  • Scouts - provide annual spring Camp-o-ree site for around 200 scouts plus adult leaders
  • Starker video - I’m Not an Alien
  • Youth Leadership Corvallis/Philomath - steering committee, lead Natural Resources Day
  • Webelos- help fourth and fifth grade boy scouts get their forest activity badge at the trail
